Federal Government $7.8 million investment in Northern NSW Inland Port

Council are thrilled with the $7.8 million investment in the Northern NSW Inland Port that has been announced by the Federal Government as part of the 2021 budget. This comes on the back of $16.8 million received from the NSW Government in September that will fund stage one of the development of the port.

The $7.8 million, will be utilised to construct an 1800m rail siding with slip road infrastructure at the Northern NSW Inland Port site. This infrastructure will facilitate rail loading and storage.

Narrabri Shire Council Mayor, Ron Campbell was extremely excited with the announcement and said, “the Council driven, Northern NSW Inland Port has received $24.6 million in funding in the past month.

“This is such a vote of confidence for the Narrabri Shire.

“Both the Federal and State Governments have made it clear that Narrabri Shire will be crucial in Australia’s COVID-19 economic recovery plan.

“Council is on track to deliver the game changing Northern NSW Inland Port development and appreciates the $7.8 million in funding and ongoing support of the project from the Federal Government.

“Getting this sort of government funding and support is not just from an idea or a good set of plans, it is the result of three years of strategic planning from staff and Council driving this major project.”
